Amy, RE: Why hasn't Dell reported any shortage problem DELL historically hasn't promptly reported any problems, hoping instead that its tremendous growth covers up any issues. And that has worked pretty well. The first chink in this armor was last quarter. Note that DELL had an analyst meeting and assured analysts that the quarter was fine, even though there were some rumors otherwise. A week later, only eleven days before the end of the quarter, DELL warned when it became apparent that growth couldn't cover the problem this time. DELL's still got 23 days left to the quarter. Management probably feels like there's still a chance.
