I disagree. The major issue with race has to do with economic differences and the feelings of superiority of one race over another. Its a problem that is most endemic to the US and similar countries where the society is fairly diverse.

Gay marriage is an issue that crosses religious and cultural mores and ethos. That's the same with abortion. In most religions, gayness is an abomination against God. Same with abortion. Consequently, most cultures are motivated by religion and culture to prohibit both. White slavists tried to make black slavery a religious issue but it never gained much traction.

<<Gay and race are two very different issues. Gay marriage as an issue is more like abortion than it is racial integration. And just for the record, I am not entirely comfortable with abortion althought I am perfectly fine with gay marriage. In fact, I would encourage my significant other to abort only as a last option.>>

There is where you logic fails you.

Gay marriage and integration are EXACTLY the same thing. Exactly, exactly!!! Exactly!

And why are neither analagous to abortion? Here is why:

Abortion is a dilemma. Integration an gay marriage are problems with specific solutions.

Huge difference between a dilemma and a problem. A dilemma only has a choice. Existentialist's do best with dilemma's. problems have actual solutions.

Example: Gunther Grass: tin drum: a French boy is the sole care taker of his 85 year old grandmother. Nazi's have invaded and he wants to go fight the Nazi's, but he doesn't want to leave his grandmother.

What is the right answer. The right answer is whatever the boy decides to do. Dilemma's only have decisions. Problems have logical solutions.
