May 21, 1999: (+29%) - Data Systems & Software (Nasdaq: DSSI), a provider
of computer consulting and development services, jumped $0.875 (29%) Friday to finish
at $3.875 after its subsidiary, Comverge Technologies, announced yesterday a
technology partnership with Public Service Electric and Gas of New Jersey (PSE&G), a
subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group (NYSE: PEG). Under the partnership,
PSE&G will use Comverge Technologies equipment as part of PSE&G's advanced
metering services for energy services companies and third-party energy suppliers
throughout its service territory.

"With the introduction of retail competition in electricity supply scheduled to start in
New Jersey this year, we believe many customers, energy services companies and
third-party suppliers will want advanced electric meters capable of measuring energy
consumption at 15, 30 and 60 minute intervals." said John Jensen, director of
measurement services for PSE&G. "PSE&G was looking for telecommunications
technology to bundle with its advanced electric meters that worked with public wireless
networks and could reduce our installation cycle time in support of energy suppliers
and their need to enter the marketplace rapidly. After evaluating several
communications systems providers we selected Comverge Technologies because their
systems best met our needs in terms of functionality, flexibility and price."
