I am thinking that in most poor countries and amongst recent immigrants to the US, children are the currency of a family. As families become more educated, they trend towards smaller families and more materialistic.
Amongst the religious, such as fundamentalist Christian and Islam and Orthodox Jews, this does not seem to apply.

Semitic designates language group. So technically speaking if you went to language class and learned Aramic, Hebrew, Arabic, Ugartic, you too can be a Semite.
