LOL! Well said--. I'd just add the provision that public disclosure of this research would mean dissemination to all investors, not just to "clients" of the house putting out the research. No selective disclosure for proprietary research.

By the way, another interesting comment on Reg FD was offered by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Apparently, the financial journalists are being told that Reg FD would mean the end of press releases, that disclosure could be satisfied through postings on random Web sites or through Web conferences that are themselves not publicly announced (and therefore selectively attended). Talk about spinning the media in order to get them against this movement! By the letter of the law, this assessment probably is correct. But is there anything in current SEC law that requires companies to issue press releases? I'm not sure, but I doubt it.
