What a great article.
I think if the word feminism stands in the way of making all people more healthy, and happy, and equal in their opportunities, then we probably ought to kill the word and call it "peopleism".
After all, "feminism" shouldn't be about making women men (because let's face it, even with radical surgery that just isn't possible). What most feminists wanted was equal opportunity, and even if we aren't quite there, we are sure darn close. Perfection may simply never be achieved in this area- but now what is called for is gentle tweaking, not a full on movement, to make sure everyone feels included in the system, and no one feels they have no hope of succeeding due to race, or gender, or age, or whatever.
I think intensive movements are great, for a beginning- like the feminist movement, and the black movement, but when you start to achieve your goals, I do think you need to put a less confrontational face on the whole thing, or you risk the gains made.
