Lets look for some signs that he is bringing in somebody with him Especially someone associated with marketing JAVA. The guy needs to do a talent search in Silicon Valley with people that understand the browser/server intranet (INTRANET!) concept. He then needs to call up Denice and tell her its time to go forward with a low end server product that pushes JAVA apps. That will force MSFT to embrace JAVA and cost them their apps. The people at Sun should be helping this guy. They can't lose if they work together. This is the guy that could develop the killer product for Novell that brings this stock back. He needs his own management team and the support of Novell's engineers. Marengi should be sent to Europe to "build sales". ============================================================== By the way, can anyone characterize attendees at Brainshare this year. From NY area I know everybody in the Novell engineering/sales support area wants to attend. Is it going to be Schmidt's first opportunity to meet the guys in the field?
