Once a year, Nasdaq adjusts the index's makeup so it consists of the 100 largest nonfinancial companies. This year's changes will be announced Dec. 11, and they will take effect at the close of trading Dec. 19.
ATI Technologies Inc. (computer peripherals), Career Education Corp. (schools), Garmin Ltd. (communications equipment), Intersil Corp. (semiconductors), Lam Research Corp. (semiconductors), Level 3 Communications Inc. (communications services), and Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (semiconductors) are among companies likely to be added to the Nasdaq-100, according to the analysts.
Stocks likely to be deleted include ADC Telecommunications Inc. (communications equipment), Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (computer storage devices), Ericsson AB (communications equipment), Human Genome Sciences Inc. (biotechnology), Icos Corp. (biotechnology), Monster Worldwide Inc. (advertising), and RF Micro Devices Inc. (semiconductors), according to Lehman, CSFB, Citigroup and Goldman.
