I just know what the completion dates are (and some of the penalties for breaking the deadline), as reported in the press releases announcing the contracts.

Ericsson will be up sh*t creek if it doesn't finish building out MobilCom's network in Germany by July, or so. Other European networks have completion deadlines for differing parts of this year and next. Regardless of this unfinished standards business, Ericsson has been shipping WCDMA equipment for at least three months. This standards business sure doesn't seem to be delaying NTT DoCoMo's plans. Their network is mostly complete at this point. I suspect this standards issue is much less than it's made out to be--a red herring. Whatever it is about, I suspect that Ericsson and Nokia will be in agreement. Since they have around 80% of the market, their word is what counts. Maybe the N. American companies are fractured or something, but the Scandinavians can move without them. I guess that Nokia will wind up with much of Lucent's and Nortel's business in the end.
