It is known that H. Sapiens and Neanderthals lived side by side for tens of thousands of years, if not longer, with neither one having an apparent evoltionary advantage. Then, some speculate, around 50,000 years ago a small group of H. Sapiens developed a mutation that increased their intelligence and thus technological ability, allowing them to out compete Neanderthals. After this, H. Sapiens began using arrows and making better blades for hunting, etc. Neanderthals continued using spears to attack prey, much more dangerous being up close than shooting from a distance with an arrow.

I get teased about the size of my nose on occasion, but for some reason it's not considered ugly, contrary to my own personal assesment. Oh, well!
