Most people are not pedophiles, but the statistics show that the ones who are, are mostly biological fathers- and you don't think they are hiding their crimes, and good at hiding them? If you read what I said I did not say that normal families should be regarded with suspicion in general- I merely said outward normality makes a great cover for activities that are criminal, and people who aren't stupid are going to realize that. Pedophiles in the home with the child can threaten the child, and hide their crime behind their own doors- that's a tremendous advantage for a criminal. Did you read the statistics I posted on the percentage of these crimes that are brought to trial, and the percentage of the crimes that are not true? I'm not sure what you are arguing here. Are you trying to say pedophiles, the most common ones- biological fathers- are obvious and easy to spot? I'd say the statistics on catching them and bringing them to trial don't support that. Since these men are probably fairly normal except in their sexual desires, I'd guess they are probably very hard to identify. My point wasn't that we should be suspicious of all normal families, I thought I made that fairly clear- my point was that the statistics tell us the men most likely to abuse children are biological fathers living with their children, and these men are rarely caught, and even more rarely are the cases taken to trial, so it seems likely they are good at hiding, presumably by being fairly normal, because if they were acting like the criminals they are, they'd be caught- right?
I'm sure sometimes people can't appear normal, but since pedophilia is not a crime that takes place in public, and takes place (often) in the criminal's home, I'd say it is one of the easier ones to hide. |
