Culled thoughts of Major General Supatra: We get much advice from many say that we should end terrorism by giving bad guys what they want. We think is better we end terrorism by giving bad guys what we want to. We have some good breaks end of year. We pick up one guy is very much near top of the three. He sing soon and give us many under him. These we pick up also. Is interesting thing we see. These people who recruit and train from islamic schools are most keen for others to make attack and do other things. But when we catch they will do anything to save themselves. Also is finding we make that muslim schools are backbone of terrorism. This almsot without exception every school we investigate we find teachers are very much involved in organizing and recruiting for terrorsit gangs. To end insurgency for once and for all best way is to close all muslim schools down. Question: I can hear the howling of the Misguided Multitude already. Is there the political will to take the heat for doing that? We are already doing this. We not do by closing down but islamic schools must follow courses laid down by government for all schools. This include how to read how to write how to do all things needed. Also history and other things about country. For language kids must learn Thai first then english. Schools will be inspected and supervised. So if teachers start to ignore course laid down by education department school will be closed pupils sent to other school. Days when islamic man can start school and teach what want are gone. For political will for sure we have plenty of this. We give south little lesson. Prime Minister comes up with great idea. Says will make drop of paper birds all over south as symbol of peace. Asks all people to fold paper birds. Soon we have 132 million paper birds to drop. Think what this show. Government ask so 62 million people fold 132 million paper birds. This is object lesson of how much authority government have. Does not even have to command just ask. Remember purpose terrorist have is to show government have no authority. People look up see sky full of paper birds see this is not so. Comments on gun control: In ours down here we have serious gun control problem. Are running out of guns to give to people. Is no joke. We have national shortage of .38 revolvers because so many people in ours buy them now. In FourthA rmy we run program give people at risk teachers police security guards families of these interest free loan so can buy gun. Mostly they buy .38 revolvers. They do not want semi-auto for they have fear of jamming. But presence of guns now has cut number of drive-by shootings very greatly. When terrorists once knew target could not fight back now they expect return fire. And are not so keen on making attack to start Most interesting thing is way terrorists move attacks to avoid armed people. Whe terrorist started they attack teachers on way to work police at home or on way to duty when not armed. So we start to arm these. Allow police to carry guns at all times not only when on duty. Give interest free loans to teacher who want to buy gun for protecting self. Almost first thing started doing down here was signing authorizations for these loans. Used to do by self. Now have two staffers who do this for me. So teachers can protect themselves when attacked. We had case policeman was attacked while in truck was badly wounded. Terrorist walk to him to finish off but wife of policeman run from store open fire on terrorist with gun she buy. Chase them off kills one wounds other. Saves husband. So terrorists move to other targets. When they fight back move again. Latest case was islamic terrorist open fire on school bus wound two kids. So guess will have to arm kids as well. Oldest ones anyway. Prove what say right from start. Only defense against terrorist is armed population. Many thanks for kind words and support. We are doing well down here rate of attacks is dropping as we kill off insurgency leaders. Is also strong shift away from shootings now to bombings. Also wave of suicide attacks we fear has not happened yet. To know that so many in other countries support us is great encouragement for men. Tsunami was terrible disaster but we are hit less than many. For self first learn was news for am on other coast even though wave not hit so far away. Problem we have was getting to disaster area for roads and rail were knocked out. For one week lose nearly all my helicopters to rescue effort. Sad to say fear some of those who are lost will never be found. Also we have problem we never have to handle so many bodies before we do not have facilities. Also most of effort is to save living not care for dead. So we cannot treat dead with respect they should have. This is shameful for these were our guests deserve respect we cannot give. Navy lose one frigate three patrol craft. Police lose two patrol craft. One thing for those who follow naval things. Chakkrinareubet is of great value she work very hard with her helicopters save many, many lives of people. Perhaps those who criticize her will keep quiet now.
