it sits across the canal. high mountain irrigation water. finest mountain river water. Out of the Crystal River up by Avalanche creek. Ditch runs 15 feet wide x 3 feet deep. Crosses the land for a half mile. Runs under my bridge at 4 feet per second. Plenty of water. At the edge of the property the water comes out of a 6' diameter buried pipe. It is really moving there. But I do not have permission to hook a generator up to the concrete headwall yet. Working on that. So much wasted energy right there. Enough to power 20 houses I suspect.

How much head do you have on the stream?

A small turbine would work well if you can get a hundred or two feet drop. Neck it down from a 4" pipe and you have it.

How about generator? Bought some off ebay for peanuts. Brushless government style. 240 continuous duty 12kw and 8kw.
$40 plus shipping each. Shipping sucked.
