The rifle is in perfect condition.>> I have a friend who is into collecting older military rifles from the earliest breech loaders through WWI plus he's also collecting the Garands and bolt actions used in WWII. He refinishes the stocks and has the bluing and mechanics repaired as needed. He has over 85 guns in his collection and has shot all but one, no ammo for that one anywhere. He also researches where and the dates they were made and where they were used. He showed me one that was based on a Mauser action, built in France in 1885 for the Turkish Forestry Service. There was something like 100 of those made. He has 10 Garands that he's bought trying to get one made by Winchester. Still doesn't have one. I have one Garand and it's one of the rare Winchesters. Luck of the draw.
