I think that Merced is a lousy IA-64 implementation, but McKinley will likely be much better.

But what if Merced is such an embarrassment that nobody will want to touch McKinley? This is not the first time Intel tried to liberate itself from the IA. None of the previous attempts succeeded.

I may be proven wrong, but as of now, Merced has all of the signs of being a loser.
