Furukawa to Boost Output of Semiconductor Material by 70% - TOKYO, Sept. 26 2000 Furukawa Co. will further increase output of high purity metallic arsenic, a raw material for semiconductors, by 70% to cope with growing demand for cellular phones and other information technology products, the nonferrous metal producer said Tuesday. Furukawa will invest 2.2 billion yen to boost monthly output at its plant in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, in northeastern Japan to 15 tons by December 2001 from the current 9 tons, the company said. home.kyodo.co.jp Furukawa is also the "F" in JDS FITEL (Furukawa International Telephone?).
