I disagree. I think Arlington to DC holds up as well as UK to US. I don't think our personal experience with the locations is all that relevant but if you think it is - I've lived in neither but I lived near both for 22 years.

I do agree that a 400x disparity is striking. I don't think the Arlington to DC comparison somehow refutes the other comparison or makes it insignificant, but the Arlington to DC comparison does show how other factors besides the level of gun control have a major effect. That fact is irrelevant if the only claims being made at that the 400x disparity exists and that it is striking, but it is relevant if anyone is trying to argue that the 400x disparity means the US should have more gun control, or that the difference is almost entirely based on the different gun control laws in the US and the UK.
