Meanwhile up in Canada:

Crude oil production declined 4.6% compared to the same month last year, continuing the downward trend observed since the beginning of the year. Production fell 6.3% during the first six months of the year compared to the same period a year earlier. This decrease was attributable to sustained lower synthetic crude oil (tarsands) production in Alberta (-30.8%) compared to the first six months of 2004, and lower offshore production from Newfoundland and Labrador (-8.2%).
