Ya know El, the Captain is starting to look like a rocket scientist here, dumping out at 35 and 30 as he did, BUT, I am starting to see hints of success:
1. It looks after all is said and done, that Carly and Mike were smart enough to count the votes 6 months ago. I believe before the merger announcement they went thru the what if if Walt and the boys didn't vote for the deal. THAT is damn good strategic planning.
2. These people are Yuppies, and as much as I hate Yuppies, they SEEM TO BE DOING the one thing that Yuppies Don't do. They are taking action, they are moving like greased lightning.
3. In the PC sector, this means FAR less undercutting prices at the retail PC level. Plus vastly increasing the efficiency of the distribution network by shipping fewer different types of PC and more printers, right with the PC's.
Sort of ...Bundling Rules!!!!!
The proof of the pudding will be how effective they are in the midrange market and I have expressed my thoughts on that, and rude is withholding judgment.
BUT THINGS COULD BE WORSE.
They could have broadened the service initiative, not by merging, but by acquiring Arthur Andersen. :)) |
