Wow-$46 mil in convertible notes. I think they pay a couple of points annually and they're redeemable at 9 1/8 in 2000 something? You think those that bought into that paper will want to buy at 9 1/8 when it comes time? Big future competition announcements tomorrow. Also, I guess IBM'ers are like IOMEGANS. From tomorrows WSJ "There's a bit of a manic-depressive view on IBM," says
analyst Steve Milunovich of Morgan Stanley. When the
company reports good results and its executives make
positive noises, "investors extrapolate that into renewed
industry leadership for IBM," he says. But when it reports
disappointing results, or its chief financial officer issues a
warning about the future, investors run for cover.
"Emotionally, there's not a middle of the road for IBM,"
Mr. Milunovich says.
