Now Larry, you know that Lucent seems to be able to push 40 Kbps upstream due to some advanced echo-cancellation techniques: pcweek.com and they will likely be included in the upcoming standards. The funny thing about this is that my neighbor (recently retired Senior Engineer for SW Bell) said that "The Labs" had worked this out a while back but had no place (or reason) to institute it until this 56K deal came along. Everyone will probably share everything and the whole mess of them will be happy, just as they did with all the standards before this.

FLEX256K ?? Sounds like something they advertise on those infomercials.
I still like XK56, sounds like a Jaguar.
