Yes.. it's a concern that Indonesian is predominantly muslim.. But it also predominantly moderate and their internal counter-terrorism unit is extremely aggressive in quashing any militant activity.. This new Governor is already being talked about as a future President here.. You just have to love watching him sneak up on lazy governmental administrators, warning them tactfully, but firmly, that if they cannot improve their agencies, he will "leave them behind".. The other day, he was inspecting flood control measures in a part of S. Jakarta and was informed of a problem.. He immediately, on live TV, got on the phone and called the appropriate agency leader to make sure that the problem was dealth with. Jokowi, his name, was previously Mayor of Solo, Indonesia and developed a reputation for efficiency and integrity. Here's another guy, currently in charge of State Owned Enterprises in Indonesia, who is a political up and comer.. thejakartaglobe.com A few mentions and comparison to Jokowi included.. Things might be changing (finally) in Indonesia, or so the people are hoping.. If these guys can survive the potential threats from the former "power elite". Hawk
