We lived in Chicago from 1962 to 1969. I became a fairly serious Cubs fan then. But lost much of it when we moved back east.

My wife's grandfather was a huge Cardinals and Cubs fan.

The first major league baseball game I saw was in Ebbets Field in, probably, 1949 or 50. Preacher Roe pitched for the Dodgers. Wonderful, small stadium. My younger brother and I rode the subway, by ourselves, over from Manhattan. I was only 14 or 15 at the time. We had an absolutely terrific time. I can still recall very vivid pictures. But I was a baseball addict at the time. Kept box scores.
