Some little while ago, a stimulating discussion on this thread
revolved about the issue of aspartame (Monsanto's Nutrasweet)
and whether this substance might be toxic or disease producing
with arguably profound implications for Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola,
and other soft drink makers, not to mention the myriad of companies
using this laboratory product in legion other food and beverage
products(5000+). A preliminary search of the internet reveals
very disturbing studies and data regarding aspartame and supposed
pernicious effects on animal and human physiology. The work of
researcher Mary Nash Stoddard (A "Sixty Minute" TV guest) and
known as the Ralph Nader of the Nineties is particularly
damning. Confer:
web2.airmail.net

She has prepared a 200 page report compiled from peer review
medical journals and the medical literature. It is available through
her web site. Mary Stoddard reports that the media blackout on the
deadly dangers of NutraSweet is lifting as a consequence of TV
programs such as "Hard Copy" and "Sixty Minutes" which, reportedly,
have covered the aspartame issue and the public's increasing awareness
of the proliferation of hitherto rare brain tumours and cancers,
especially among presumed aspartame users.

Confer, also, the following for additional information on this topic:

We have seem what the trial lawyers have done to Philip Morris
and the tobacco interests. What will they do to Monsanto, Coca-
Cola, Pepsi-Cola, et cetera if the research of Stoddard and others
is accurate? Will this issue be the David who brings down the
Goliath? Will Coca-Cola, et alii be KO'd.
