PB - Re: "There seems to be a critical mass of evidence accumulating that suggests a widely supported launch for Itanium"

Critical Mass - that's a good summation - Thanks.

Yes - ever since Intel showed that first silicon was functional, and shipped evaluation systems, ITanium support seems to have generated a very large BUZZ in the Server/Commerce/Workstation community.

My guess is that the companies that have such evaluation systems are MORE than pleased with their performance.

And here's another "anecdotal evidence" - the Media Pundits - Nathan Brookwood, Glinnley Inept, Michael "Anything But Intel" Slater, Michael Feibus, Dean "I Love AMD" McCarron, etc. have NOT ISSUED FUD RELEASES about "supposedly" poor ITanium performance from "Sources that wish to remain anonymous".

That is a GOOD SIGN !
