legislation got passed, including China, Free Trade, Welfare Reform, more police to fight crime, balanced budgets.......remember when these were primarily Conservative themes?

in a way, this reminds me of Nixon opening China - the Democrats (read "pinko commie-lovers") could not do it, the Right would have gone Ape. It instead required someone dead-set against the whole idea and that was the Right itself.
