CB,

A rose by any other name is but a rose...

Ok you win - somehow in your version of '60's hell no one can mention the word race. Your like an inverted KKK on this.

So people whose ancestry was geographically linked to west africa before European settlement are more inclined to sickle cell. Folks whose ancestry in areas now called nordic or irish are more inclined to celiac and related conditions. We just won't use the word 'race' to identify them.

When I see my dermatologist next month and she makes a needless comment on my Irish ancestry and sunlight - can I sue her for such racist drivel? Are these 'lesions' she's burning off a sick plot by the medical community on us poor whitey's?

So we should now relabel drugs associated with estrogen-rich persons, or is gender an ok issue in medicine? Consider that the condition may have nothing to do with a uterus.

As for Alan Templeton - he is 'a' biologist and does not speak for all biologists. His study is however interesting from an anthropological sense, but there is way too much politics in the writing and the presentation for it to look very real (scientifically speaking).

As for the Tiger Woods issue - he is half asian - his mother is Thai. Why is it rocket science to think ancestry is important? Thats what we were discussing. Race and ancestry are the same issue (genetically speaking).

You can look as white as a KKK leader (say Robert Byrd as an example), but if you have a black ancestor - you could get or pass on sickle cell).

Good night,

John
