The Fed is responsible for the money supply (but I've forgotten the difference between the M's) through the reserves they require banks to maintain (among other things?). From the other side the money flow into the markets will come from us (you and me, maybe <g>) from bonds, money markets, and savings. I'm pretty foggy about the Fed's role other than that when Greenspan twitches the markets move. I'll have to dig out my ECO101 text if the bugs haven't eaten it <g>. JF
