David: the Saddam thing was point 1 - War...

(Why I said things were OK was that the Olympics are on and it would not be "ethical" for the US to strike at this point. Yeah like killing people is ethical!!

Besides you know what the funny thing about this war thing. I think the last time it happened the stocks went up on the day of Desert Storm. This time the market is caught in an upswing so tough to call. Sense would be that as long as it's over quickly stocks will do alright. Also I think there is a sense that unlike last time, when the uncertainty involved re: cp. to Vietnam and the US would be involved in ground combat against one of the largest forces in the world blah blah blah..., the threat of prolonged warfare is just not there.

Plus heck last time we were in or close to a recession. This time we are not.

Of course if the Russians get ansy and the Chinese get ansy then things would not be pretty.

The best thing would be for a settlement or if Saddam slipped and fell on a banana peel hurting his head and causing a total loss of memory.

Then maybe Iraq can avoid having civilians unnecessarily being killed by US bombs or Saddam's despotism. )
