... just came from the Abiomed Annual Meeting ... ... highlights ... (1) the most difficult patient Abiomed could have imagined turns out to be patient #1 and he is doing so well that he is getting bored, and wants out of the hospital ... soon ... David Lederman said he can be found at any given time on any of the many floors or departments of the hospital - including the lobby, yet no one knows who he is - he fits right in with all the other patients .... he is 6' 2" tall and was 140 pounds at implant on July 2 (talk about thin and sick) ...(2) other less sick patients will probably be up and home a few weeks after implantation ... (3) the first 5 implants should be completed by December 31 and the 10 after that by the end of June, 2002.
