Interface Systems Adds Wireless Support to Its L2i Technology Platform
Wireless Component To Growing L2i Product Line Positions Company To Extend Technology Leadership Position in legacy-to-Internet Field
ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Interface Systems (Nasdaq: INTF - news), the leader in legacy-to-Internet (L2i(TM)) technology solutions, today announced that its L2i products will support WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) via WML (Wireless Markup Language) and HDML (Handheld Device Markup Language).
The Company said its MyCopy(TM) software will be the first L2i application to take advantage of the emerging wireless technology, which will enable brokerage firms to deliver information contained in confirms, margin calls and other documents to their clients via wireless devices.
Robert Nero, president and CEO, said the incorporation of wireless delivery capability into Interface's L2i suite of products underscores the Company's commitment to providing the financial services industry with the most powerful document delivery tools available.
``The addition of WML and HDML support to our L2i products extends our ability to provide financial services firms with unmatched flexibility in delivering vital, timely Information to their clients,' said Nero. With the growing popularity of handheld devices and wireless phones, financial services companies are being challenged to develop new ways to reach their customers no matter what their location. Interface is helping those institutions meet their challenges with the most advanced document delivery systems available.
``Clearly, financial institutions who incorporate wireless technology into their document delivery systems will enjoy distinct competitive advantages in the marketplace,' Nero added.
Currently, the most popular wireless devices are PDAs (Portable Digital Assistants) and web-enabled phones. Gartner Group expects the number of mobile phones deployed worldwide to exceed one billion between 2003 and 2005. At that time 70 percent of new cellular phones and 80 percent of new PDAs will feature some form of access to the internet.
``The widespread acceptance of wireless technology standards is creating a need for businesses to deliver information contained in statements, bills, and other critical documents to wireless devices, to support business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and even business-to-employee environments,' said Michael Killen, president of Killen and Associates. ``With the addition of wireless support to their L2i technology, Interface Systems is very well positioned to take advantage of this rapidly growing market.'
