A good deal of Novell's management is in San Jose, "where the action is." And I think that's a good thing. We do need the exposure. We do need to be accessible to other technology leaders (not to mention the press).

As for the 2 or 3 thousand of us who choose to live in Utah, Novell benefits because: 1) Lower cost of living (read: more affordable talent), 2) Most of us are 10 to 15 minutes from work, and 3) We aren't inundated by calls (like my friends in San Jose) from headhunters tempting us to work for Cisco, Netscape, Oracle, 3Com, or Sun.

Dr. Schmidt's act of getting a place to stay in Utah means a great deal to those of us here.

Just my two cents worth ...
