Apparently there are some moderates in the GOP, but I don't know enough about any of them or whether the Repubs would vote for any other than McCain in a primary.
I have always hoped that we would mobilize a real third party.
The nation has been ready for this. The meteoric rise of Ross Perot is the prime example. In a way, the press coverage, which I normally hate, was able to show that he really was a nut. Or maybe it was the Bush machine which leaked all the stories about him.
Nader could have been good, but his temperament and ego prevented that.
You know come to think of it, it's probably miraculous that the worst we've had is probably Nixon and his paranoid delusions. Bush is truly not qualified to be President but he rises or falls on what you think of his team. If you like them, they are brilliant, starting with Cheney, Rice and Powell and even Rumsfeld (interesting racial surprise for a supposed right wing idealogue.) If you hate 'em, then they are crazed, insane, etc., etc.,etc., and probably have Jewish roots <vbg>. |
