Have not seen the operations of, and am not familiar with the details of the Amplats and Implats African mines. When you say 100's of millions of tons I envisage some good widths. If you were to double or triple the grade at Lac des Iles, Minty would look like a hero in a hurry! I am a little surprised, though to see Amplats & Implats put up big dollars in Ontario for quite a bit lower average grades (so far).

Yes, I was thinking of the underground, narrow, (horizontal through to vertical) mining widths of both pgm's and gold. (Gold as low as 3 g/t but with labor costs of $50 (US) per month). And the expense of supplying ventilation and airconditioning at those 10,000 foot depths! Better ground conditions though, than western North America or the Canadian Shield.
