That and the alternative of flooding our email with pornographic spam, which tends to make the email experience much more unpleasant. The Directorate of Operations guys could easily consider this a suitable "dirty trick" of social engineering to keep a certain percentage of people away from email services due to their sense of moral outrage at such a violation of their religious or other codes of ethics. If the email experience becomes X-rated, we can be sure that careful and concerned parents (among others) will suppress its use. A perfect (and perfectly devious) way to censor free speech on this medium.
