These two churches, Smyrna and Philadelphia, are the only two churches out the seven, which Jesus has nothing against....And in fact they are the only two churches in which Jesus mentions the "synagogue of satan".Is it because these two churches (types) know of the heritage of the "synagogue of satan"? And do in fact have the "key of David"?
Also consider as to the "serpent", that it was truly satan himself,and not just a snake influenced by satan.. Rev.12:9..
There were two trees in the garden that are specifically named:.."...the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,AND the tree of knowledge of good and evil." Gen.2:9...The tree of life we know to be Jesus.
