hello tig,

"Wonder if upgrading would resolve the problem. I'm in IE now, but think I have Netscape 4.1 or 4.01"

i think upgrading would be a great plan. and it could very well resolve your smartdownload prob

"Are you aware of any problems with current Netscape editions?"

how much time do you have? <g3> just kidding. i'd say that overall the netscape versions keep getting better. i know the feeling if you are hesitant to move up from your current browser. i'd vote in favor of it, though.

"BTW, toggling between browsers is not a problem is it?"

not at all. more and more frequently i find i have both ie5.0 and nc4.7 open simultaneously. certain espn java applets run far better for me with ie, and i have some other programs that must run in ie. everything else is netscape. occasionally it is very helpful to have two browsers in order to troubleshoot a sudden inexplicable slowdown. is it netscape? the isp? my machine? the extra browser can address that for me.

hope you see your way clear with the smartdownload situation. please keep us posted.

btw, if you haven't ever visited the netscape newsgroups, i encourage you to do so. i see some fantastic questions being answered there, and it's easy to participate. searching is simple too.

:)
