TigerPaw: Thanks for the update on DELL's record order from its website. The customer (Norwest Mortgage) is headquartered in my backyard and is quite progressive. Any firm that is willing to spend over $7M on DELL laptops must know what they are doing !!!

I have more DELL shares than I have ever had and I'm looking forward to a GREAT quarterly performance.

DELL LOGS ITS LARGEST ONLINE END-USER ORDER

ROUND ROCK, Texas, Feb. 10, 1999 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL) recently made its largest single online sale - more than $7 million of Dell® notebook PCs purchased directly through a Premier Pagessm Web site. Dell's worldwide on-line sales surpassed $10 million per day in 1998, reflecting a dramatic surge in purchases by corporate customers via www.dell.com and Dell's Premier Pages service.

Dell's largest on-line transaction to date came from Des Moines, Iowa-based Norwest Mortgage, the nation's leading originator of residential mortgages. The single order of several thousand Dell Latitude® CPI notebooks were directly shipped to 50 different locations as a part of a complex, time-sensitive delivery schedule. A specific number of notebooks arrived at each location to support sales force seminars, where Norwest sales representatives began hands-on training on their new Dell laptops. Each notebook arrived ready to use with a custom software image installed, including Norwest's proprietary software.

"In the increasingly competitive mortgage business, our success depends on the quality of people on our sales team. It is critical that we support this team with the technical tools to be successful," said Beth Woodworth, vice president - business integration, Norwest Mortgage. "A technology updating project of this size, and for such a widely distributed sales team, can be daunting, but Dell's tools and support systems helped ensure our success. This was a considerable investment in the future for our company, and it is already paying off."

A unique asset tag applied on each notebook in the factory allowed Norwest Mortgage to keep track of mobile inventory, said Woodworth. The company's 4,000-member retail sales force works from a network of mortgage stores and remote locations in all 50 states.

"Our large corporate customers, especially those like Norwest Mortgage that are involved in a high-precision industry like finance, appreciate Dell's efficiency and reliability," said Joe Marengi, senior vice president and general manager of Dell's Relationship Group. "Customers also value our project management capabilities to help meet their goals and improve business processes."
