I'm familiar with those sayings. Reminds me of the time I flew across the Brooks Range in a float plane. We were ascending a narrow valley toward a pass, and the cloud ceiling was pressing in dangerously. The cautious pilot turned around and found another valley 20 miles away where we made it through. One of our passengers had once crashed a plane up there and walked away from it. But sometimes it takes 25 years before they find the wreckage...

My DP shop got bit by some nasty Y2K problems over the weekend, and we also had trouble on December 1st. These incidents have been disruptive, but manageable because they are spread out over time.
