Don't know about a 2 year service, but have always thought that a 6-12 months service of some type would be an advantage to the young person, and a help to their country.

It probably won't happen. People either want to help others, or they don't. Still debating with myself if it should be a mandatory service. I'm leaning to not mandatory.

But then again, I don't think we should have welfare for very many people either. Of course, there are exceptions (blind single woman with young children for example)....but generally, I think people should be given a hand up, not a permanent hand out.
