Unintended consequences. They can be nasty.
To change the subject a bit, my son has been invited to a 7 hour birthday party! It starts at 10 am and goes until 5 pm. Isn't that amazing? I can't wait to meet these parents- are they eternal optimists? Iron men? My son is pretty sedate, and oddly, even bizarrely, polite and formal (a function of his NVLD), but NONE of his friends are, and I can only tolerate them for about 4 hours. Then I really want them to just be QUIET, preferably at their own homes.
Apparently the kids will be going out for lunch, a movie, and to a bookstore. Don't ask me why the bookstore, because I don't know, but I'm very curious. I think it's nice this 13 year old girl is inviting both boys and girls, though. Things sometimes get a little segregated at that age (or else unduly romantic), and just having friendships seems like a good idea to me.
I think I am more excited about the party than my son is. Of course I plan to steal any great ideas they have for the party, that goes without saying. |
