I've seen you stress this argument several times and I must say that I admire your tenacity. While I can't argue that the statement is false, I do feel clarification is necessary. Apple and IBM "killed themselves" with the absence of OS licensing. Both companies made the same mistake but in different ways. IBM failed to control the OS, a fatally flawed business strategy that should have been blatantly obvious. Shows that they never expected the PC as consumer device to work. Apple, controlled the OS too tightly, not unlike Texas Instruments, failing to license.

In both cases it was the absence of OS licenses that gave away the market to Microsoft.
