Pues chíngalos, son políticos, es una porquería en que se ensucian .... it is a very good thing that the peoples need not live on the levels where do the politicians .... some of us are not very impressed with el Zorro right now either, well more against the people who stand in his way i suppose .... it is taking a long time, to clear out the rules that were made to benefit the robolucionarios

México never did declare its vote at the security council ... didn't have to, when came french intransigence and there was no vote .... at the same time, they did not jump on board with Bush II merely because he gave the order to do so, and that is perceived as sin in some quarters ..... well, not in ours, and not in the quarters of the canadians either, it is not in our interests to see a small group of men run the planet in carte blanche fashion from the back rooms of Washington ..... the thing that has been most importantly lost in all this war-on-Iraq business, is a sense of attempt at building workable international institutions .... it is most amusing to see the neocons now blaming Powell for this, as if the wrenches they poked into the gears of his diplomacy machine had nothing to do with its failure

You mention the 'war on drugs' above, here is a thread on Plan Colombia - #Subject-53743
Another more general, which should maybe be revived - #Subject-36872 .... latinos ask quite a lot, why can't US admin listen to its libertarians, or at least take a little responsibility for the huge dollar demand for drugs emanating from the nation .... fat bundles of hard cash are being waved in the faces of people who want very much to feed their children, and there could come better response than to supply the various caudillos with machine-guns and attack helicopters

Jorge Castañeda accomplished last year two great things, for which he has my total respect - he pissed off Fidel Castro, and he pissed off George Dubya Bush .... of course Fox had to fire him, can't have a straight shooter as foreign ministre, that would never do .... JC/Fox would have gotten along better with Harry Truman, 'I didn't give em hell, I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.' ..... Truman also said -

' "When Kansas and Colorado have a quarrel over the water in the
Arkansas River they don't call out the National Guard in each state
and go to war over it. They bring a suit in the Supreme Court of the
United States and abide by the decision. There isn't any reason in
the world why we cannot do that internationally."
