Inherent in any info system is the requirement for a unique identifier for the widget, in this case, the voter.

There is a voter registration process now (probably more than one). It is not perfect. A national ID would be more perfect. But anything you would come up with would be better than what we currently have. But knowing you, I bet you would come up with something pretty decent.

Then you have to store the votes connected in some way to the identifier. There goes vote secrecy. Each step alone would make a lot of people itchy.

Swiss banks do a pretty good job keeping client secrecy. I bet your system would be even better.

For itchy people, you could give them the option of maintaining an audit trail or not.

Practicality and perfection are mutually exclusive.

Your system would not be perfect, but it would eliminate fraud on a massive scale (eg national, state, city or large municipality).

In any case, you have my vote of confidence <g>.
