I don't want to argue for the sake of argument, BUT if a person decides to murder or otherwise harm that person, are you saying that in a "truly free" land, that it would be all right?

And as far as conscription is concerned....I hope we never again have to have the draft. If people don't believe that their very freedom is at stake, then those people deserve to not be free.

But then again, I believe it is the duty of every American to give something back to their country...and I don't mean just taxes. I believe it could be as little as teaching someone to read. Or doing as civilians did in WWII....many people were spotters for the Civil Defense checking the sky....

If you need an example of government restriction of freedom outside the tax/dole paradigm, the forced wearing of a burqa is a classic. Closer to home, since we've been talking about it, is conscription.
