Well, that quote came the day before Good Friday when the market was closed. I didn't see Roach's latest screed, but I doubt that he's got anything new to say. I doubt that unemployment will rise to 5%, but that's probably the level of semi-literate full employment anyway. I certainly hope that real estate prices are hit, as they're outrageous here in CT, but most mortgage lenders have sold the paper they wrote via FNM. If some subprime lenders go under so be it. If FNM cracks, good for the shorts. I just don't see signs that the domestic or global economic environment is that terrible, although we're likely to have a recognizable inflation problem sometime next year.
