Re: Old Folk Portfolio -- Fundamental Change Of Direction

With the market correcting and CEF's falling in price more than many of the equities owned, the CEF's are now providing some very good values and offering much higher yields than they were a year ago. One of the rules of investing is to buy the dips and we are seeing some very sizable dips. So in essence, it makes sense to me to start buying again.

However, the buying I am going to be doing with this portfolio is setting up all of the CEF's on dividend reinvestment. That means anything with a yield of 6% or more is going to help grow the monthly cash flow at a higher rate than it would if I were still using those distributions to add to equities.

This portfolio has 20% of its value exposed to CEF's and they generate a very handsome percentage of the overall monthly cash flows.

The equity dividend will still be collected in cash and reinvested selectively. The dividends from all equities will be used to help bring some of the smaller equity positions up in size.

Bottom line -- all CEF distributions are being reinvested, all equity dividends are being collected in cash and selectively invested into other equities.
