hi michael,
" is there a way I can give that "new folder" an icon picture?"
yes, there is a way. i just tried it and it works. it's kind of convoluted, though. file management is a long way from being my strong suit, so there's a good chance that there's a better way. but this is all i could come up with.
as you know, right-clicking a desktop icon gets you a menu. you can select 'properties' from this menu, then 'shortcut' and 'change icon'. BUT!... this only works with shortcut icons (distinguished by the little arrow in the lower left corner of the icon). it will not work with the new desktop folders we've created.... unless... you guessed it, unless we create a shortcut for the new folder (right-click,'create shortcut').
now here's where it gets convoluted. you now have two new folders. but one is a shortcut, capable of having a new icon associated with it. so keep that on your desktop and put the other (original) one somewhere else. i.e, get it off the desktop. i just created a new folder on my hd and dragged and dropped the original new folder into it. that leaves me with just the newly created desktop shortcut that i can then associate with a new icon.
did i just make mud out of clear water for ya? <g3> hope not, cause i know what i'm talking about!
:)
