Re: "So Elmer, what should AMD have done, have abandoned the x86 market to Intel? It's all ancient history"

Consider what markets AMD did abandon. At one time they owned the PLD market but they sold off that profitable division to fund their vendetta against the evil empire. At one time they have a very successful microcontroller in the 29K series but killed that product line when they couldn't afford to fund it and still carry on their vendetta against the evil empire. They are trying to sell their profitable communications division because it doesn't fit in, all it does is make money. A modern fab sits idle while the world needs flash memory. You look at Athlon and see a profitable product but you apparantely don't see the price tag they paid for it. With the years of red ink spent on Nexgen and deep losses from the K6 they are still well over a $$Billion$$ in the red from this stupid vendetta. Yes they were profitable in Q4 and probably will be for the next few but it will still take them years to get back to zero. This is the management that still controls AMD and still plans their activities around the same notion you expressed. How can we cripple intel?
