A "value investor" recently posted on another thread:

Sam - Not to detract from the venerable AMAT in any way but I just bought COHU yesterday to diversify and its ranked 4. (No Tito - I didn't do something as stupid as selling AMAT to buy COHU!) I posted my BUY summary on the Value Investing thread.

Jeff

My reply:

I concur that COHU represents outstanding value at current price level. The problem is that most value investors are institutions whose liquidity constraints prevent them from nibbling at microcaps in spite of their superior flavor. Also, Wall St. has been in such a boom that there are not enough analysts to go around, BION (believe it or not), to cover the smaller companies. There needs to be a major event to wake the street up to the value in a company like COHU. Is such an event imminent?

BTW, COHU should be a major benificiary of tighter standards for bringing shareholder suits in CA, as its HQ lies within the long shadow of Tort King Bill Lerach at Milberg Weiss in San Diego. Of course, management has always been so conservative that it has never had any cause to worry about such suits anyway. But just in case they wanted to share their innermost optimism with the street, there could be no better time. -G-
